Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHW) is built on a simple but powerful mission: to help wounded, disabled, and recovering veterans find healing through fly fishing, fellowship, and time on the water. Here in East Tennessee, that mission comes alive every time a veteran steps into a river, casts a line, and reconnects—with nature, with others, and with themselves.
To continue and expand this work, we are in urgent need of volunteers with fishing experience, especially those who can help guide float trips on East Tennessee rivers. If you own a boat, have experience rowing or guiding, or are comfortable supporting anglers on the water, you can make an immediate and meaningful impact.
As a PHW volunteer, you’re not just helping run a fishing trip—you’re helping veterans:
Reduce stress and isolation
Build confidence and new skills
Find community and purpose through shared experience
When you register to volunteer, we’ll onboard you through Project Healing Waters National and formally integrate you into our Knoxville Chapter. From there, our team will handle the coordination—reaching out for specific trip dates or working around the availability you provide. You tell us when you’re available; we’ll take care of the rest.
Whether you can help occasionally or regularly, your skills and time matter. One day on the river can leave a lifelong impression on a veteran who needs it most.
👉 If you’re ready to help—or want to learn more—please use the volunteer registration link below to get started.

Thank you for supporting our veterans and for being part of something bigger than any one of us. Tight lines, and we hope to see you on the water.
