Our Tellico day trips start at the hatchery. We have 4-5 miles of easy-to-access stocked fishing above the hatchery.

Fishing License and Regulations for Tellico:

Fishing the Tellico River in Tennessee requires strict adherence to seasonal closures, specific gear types, and permit requirements. A state fishing license and trout stamp/Tellico-Citico daily permit are generally required, but regulations change significantly depending on the time of year and exact section of the river. General Stocked Sections (Mar 1 – Aug 15)

The main Tellico River and its tributaries (excluding the North and Bald rivers) are heavily stocked. [1]

Permit Requirements: A Tellico-Citico Daily Permit is required, in addition to your standard Tennessee fishing license and trout stamp.
Day Closures: The river is closed to fishing on Thursdays and Fridays for stocking, except on national/state holidays.
Creel Limit: 7 trout per day, with no minimum size limit. [1, 2, 3]

Extended & Off-Season (Aug 16 – Feb 28)

Permit Requirements: The daily Tellico-Citico Permit is NOT required.
Day Closures: Fishing is permitted every day of the week.
Creel Limit: 7 trout per day, with no length limit. [1, 2, 3]

Delayed Harvest Area

From the mouth of the North River upstream to the Tennessee-North Carolina state line. [1]

Season: Catch-and-release is in effect from October 1 through the last day of February.
Bait & Gear: Only artificial lures are permitted; bait is strictly prohibited. [1, 2, 3]
